A Large-Scale 18th Century Italian Carved Cartouche

Of exceptional scale and impact, the central medallion bears the cypher ‘E A R’, adorned with grotesque masks and exuberant scrolling. The surface retaining much original parcel gilding, pleasingly in contrast to the dry surface of the pine and walnut timbers used.
