A Magnificent Scale and Architecturally Drawn, Early 19th Century Pollard Oak Bookcase
Constructed using exceptional quality pollard oak veneer, and retaining a rich pleasing patina, the form of this bookcase draws inspiration from the architecture of the ancient world, having a double moulded cornice decorated with ebonised roundels above an open top, supported by four pillars with ebonised mouldings and block capitals, above a four door breakfront cabinet base with book matched veneers and pillar supports. English, c. 1830.
