A George II Carved Giltwood Mirror, of Broad Proportions

With unusually formed square and broadly carved frame, with c-scroll, acanthus, foliate, and stiff palm detailing, enclosing a large scale mercury plate, which retains a brightness and fresh quality in its clarity. Dry stripped to remove later layers of gilded surface, in order to uncover the soft original remnants of gilt and gesso surface.
