A Late 17th, Early 18th Century Crewelwork, Depicting “The Deer Hunt”
Worked in polychrome silk threads with intricate stitching, with large scale stylised leafy and blossoming vines and perched exotic birds, on ivory ground with delicate stitched repairs, with scenes depicting hounds chasing stags. Crucially this crewelwork has not been stretched, so has a beautiful and relaxed quality to the loosely hanging form.
